Very good! I am so glad you handled it in an adult way instead of resorting to verbal or physical abuse. We would hate to hear you got thrown in jail for assault. ;)

DD

There are just times and days you have to ask yourself what have I become, what have I done, and how did I get this way?

I meant to post here last night that i saw Damo again and he apologized.
So,im really glad about that coz as i said,he's a regular customer and things could've gotten very ,very awkward.
I basically told him i didnt appreciate it and i didnt have to say much more than that.
He knew

really glad you got it sorted and in a mature and responsible way. It is always difficult to broach a situation like this, not least because up until this incident then a small amount of "joking" had been acceptable, maybe leading to the customer feeling it was ok to overstep the mark.

Because of the setting (pub) and I would presume alcohol he may have not realised how his behaviour was upsetting you, who knows he might even have woken up the next day and felt highly embarrassed about his behaviour?

By just being straight with him in a discreet way you handled it well, and he probably feels relieved that you did, and what's more his respect for you will have soared.

I had a similar instance and I chose to take the guy to one side and quietly tell him that although a certain amount of banter was acceptable, some things he had said the previous night in certain company had made me feel really uncomfortable and I would prefer he moderated his behaviour. I pointed out I knew he was joking as did he, and it had just gone a bit too far, but other people may draw conclusions from things he said and I didn't want that.

You know these situations don't have to become one where the guy becomes the big baddy.Men (and women) can step out of line, especially when drink is involved. Shouting and screaming or involving the management should be a last resort.

I'll bet when you broached the subject, you felt really good that you had spoken up for yourself, and he felt glad you had and I'll bet you both finished your conversation feeling positive.
We might think a little differently, but we got a lot in common you and me, we're just like you..............................................only prettier!

Were you eavesdropping,Addy? LOL!!
Coz that pretty much was what i said and "all" i had to say................
Im a friendly, outgoing person with a good sense of humour and i think he just went a bit overboard that night.
Thanks Addy for your understanding..... :P

This problem is routine for any professional working in a bar / pub.

As above tell the boss or deal wit hit yourself if it happens again.

I have dealt with customers for most of my life. In Montreal I worked a bar/pub and now in real estate. Which when things aren't going right people can sure dump on the realtor.

At the bar/pub I use to say something like ...

""Did I do/say anything to make you feel that I am trampish or something?"" (Chose your own word, say it sincerely) I guarantee the person will say NO ... with hesitation n questioning. Then you can nicely say "Why would you talk to me in such a manner then?"

I use this type of thing often.

"did I offend you" "no" "They why are you talking to me in such a way?"
Missing ANGEL every minute of every day.
