Broken Camera

Postby cyst & deceased » 09 Jul 2010, 14:15

Last month I got squished by 25,000 people at a Rob Zombie concert. At the time I was taking photos and the batteries got knocked out of the camera while I was using it.

I replaced the SD card before my latest trip, thinking the camera was okay, but now it won't upload through the camera cord, or the SD card. I searched the web yesterday looking for ways to fix it, but nothing is working. I've tried copying the photos from the card to the camera and vice versa. It tells me it copied, but still no uploads. The card is unlocked, but reads "card secured" on camera screen. Hmmm?

Any suggestions? I really don't want to buy a new camera, but I use mine for work as well as a hobby.

Passing out at a concert is a great way to get back stage, but really hard on electronics.

(By the way it is the same brand and type of 2gb card I always use, not the 4 gb)

Sorry, but I have no idea what the problem may be. Have you considered taking it back to the vender?

Have you tried formatting the card?

If not, try formatting using the camera, take a test shot and try to transfer it.

If this doesn't work, re-format with the PC, then format again with the camera, take a test shot and try to transfer it.

The switch / notch works in same way as the notches on compact audio cassettes and videotape cassette tapes or floppy disks. A closed or covered notch is writable, while an open notch (or removed tab) is protected.

If the switch becomes broken or falls off then the card will become a write-protected ROM card and no longer be writable. A possible troubleshooting solution would be to apply tape over the notched area (avoiding the connectors and the other notch) to configure the card in a permanent writable state.

In other words You have no choice but to take it back to the shop and say in a little voice 'I dropped it'

That's not an SD card and she specifically mentioned "The card is unlocked".

While you can't write to a RO anything, you CAN transfer files from it, ...she can't transfer files.

Funny thing is it never got dropped. Just lost a battery while taking a pic of the zombies. I read somewhere that it's the end of the camera when that happens. Fugi 850.

Manual is here: http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital ... ual_01.pdf

Are you getting an error message?

The 4gb card works fine?

Are you able to format the card on your PC and transfer files to and from (without using the camera)?

I read somewhere that it's the end of the camera when that happens.

Possible, but extremely rare.

Are the batteries Alkaline or rechargeable?

Does the camera still power on?
