Was written as a long (w/ refrain), and long since just left hanging out on my machine:
I could stand up on a stage, a crowd below,
and look all around and still feel alone.
Tons of attention doesn't mean a damn thing,
it could feed a big ego but its poisoning.
What matters the most is a dear friend or two,
a partner, the people, who see inside of you.
The people that you can let know who you are
those are the ones that can lift up your heart.
Some people come,
Some people go,
What matters is those
that touch our soul.
Good days we're "up",
Bad days we're "down",
Some days we're smiling,
and some days we frown.
Some things are constant,
Some things will change,
What will this day bring?
the question remains.
I've often been told I wear my heart on my sleeve,
as if thats wrong, somehow, the way not to be.
Whats wrong with letting people know who you are?
I'm a flawed human being not some perfect star.
I picked up some paper, I wrote down these words,
to put down my feelings, into some verse.
A glimpse of whats in me, the tiniest start,
but if you want to know me... touch my heart.
