my youngest is 15 and has had sex education through school...along with drug education...
so, depending where you are, it is very likely your son also is not ignorant of sex or sexuality,
and part of my son's education was paying attention to 'protect' themselves.

Boys and girls are ignorant until they have to pass proper exams on the subject.

They don't do that with sex education.

trust me .. most adults never mind kids have a clue about sex and the "issues"

Having said that OP .. your kid already knows his instructor has been done for this .. probably .. Hes been joking about gays and pedos for oooh probably some 8 years already .. seriously !

Actually I believe any 14 year old that is well adjusted could handle the truth about what has happened. I also have to say his sentence doesn't surprise me in the least.
After working in this field for ever 20 years one thing I can say about offenders that is consistent Self Gratification.
There is no cure ever... Just diligence on the parents part.

So it turned out to be a large scale operation - way to go law enforcement and personally I would never put photos of my child on my profile.

I am glad they got caught! It is a shame there was such a light sentence handed out for the karate instructor though.
