In the moaning of my own ignorance
I can clearly see scars are on the outside
and love is all around us when we look
open to all who can taste it for free

I am not an empty drawing pad
more shades than Berol markers
can create mind dreams on paper
if you take the time to listen

can you hear my brush strokes?
they call me to a canvas mid day
saying dont play nice or naughty
just paint what you see inside

sometimes the ugly truth has texture
in multi media needing the volume
turned way down to a quiet tone
shhh listen to the smell of magic

it does fill my heart with hope
liquid fantasies coming to life
in words ink and water colors
transparent enough to understand

what do they mean to you?
oils can be so naughty
when charcoals want to be nice
in harmony with some pencils

might I dance inside my head?
you might not want to feel it
when it comes out to play
then again just maybe

you can see more than a picture
you have molded from stone
on a firm foundation
waiting for an earth quake

shhh listen to the smell of magic
electricity crackling
the sound of human connections
sparks flying as rough edges meet

shhh breathe in the sound of magic
smoke rising above crossed sticks
the chime of souls doubling
ashes dim background to bonfire

shhh watch the taste of magic
fill our mouths til grins part us
newness finds eyes sparkling
delicious contact revives

sparks flying as rough edges meet
like a joro on the "Jersey Shore"
where theres a fine line between
memories and flashbacks
of us irish kids versus the italian kids
acting like the mutant offspring
of Sylvester Stallone and the Godfather
and us like Michael Collins and Braveheart
fighting for every square inch
for an over-appraised brownfield
ah, water under the bridge
i jumped off
to prove that the other kids that jumped
into Shark River
were the idiots.

hmmmm.

in hindsight, i guess it was a flawed hypothesis
like the einstien who decided to
disconnect the alarm system on an oil platform
so that people dont wake up at 3 in the morning

dont wake up at 3 in the morning
you might find my mind spinning
weaving the webs of thought
and solving the worlds problems

all in a split second reeeling on
faster than a speeding bullet
its a bird its a plane its a frog
Then something went wrong...

lets do the time warp again
Zeppelin playing Madison Square
riding the LIRR into Penn Station
Simon and Garfunkel for free

Lets take a ride on the E train
downtown to W 4th street
CBGB's wasnt the same ever
since the late 70's anyhow

Wanna drink some Vodka
in Washington Square?
Save some for that guy
thoughts arrive like butterflies

chase down a cab those pricks
how bout the gypsies in Queens
running without TAXI on the car
and the smell of the city

sure miss those hot dogs
pretzels bagels pizza Italian ice
flying by in brain videos
I can still taste inside

My fave is still the MMA
been there too many times
I still love all the weapons
and the statue of Diana

man time to turn it off...
those 3am find fukcs rock
but its time to say good bye
and pleasant dreams...

(and Hi! Love ya, MUAH)

CBGB's wasnt the same ever
after Debbie stopped doing coke
and Joey stopped shooting dope
and Lou quit drinking
among other things
seeing sting
busting out the wildest
punked out
'i cant stand losing'
i ever heard
brittish punkers came and went
and played and bled and tried
to sing god save the queen
and i did it my way
but f-ck-em
we still had iggy
and the ramones were the ramones
and the real edge was patti and lou
talking about radio ethiopia
rock and roll and sweet jane
new york was free then
free and violent
before guliani
before disneyland
when anarchy
was still a hope

^^^ lol on the Mayor G~
he made New York street walker free
now you can get juice in the nudie club
not even a beer while their cheeks they rub
try buying a pack of smokes to light
if you can afford the price at a fright
try walking around during the holidays
cops with machine guns is the craze
cleaned are the streets from most the litter
but not Times Square from all the glitter
hardly see the bums sleeping on a bench
or the smell of piss in a back alley trench
but you will see corporate America thrive
and all the dead come alive at five
in Dolce Armani and Prada too
Wal street puts on a show for you
rushing and running to catch the train
to suburban utopia the taxes aint plain
there in Port they charge me way too much
thats why I rent out my house and such
keep planet rude and snobs way up yonder
I love my NC the ocean and thoughts I ponder
Till I must return once again I will say
$64 in tolls round trip I do pay

.
Rushing and running to catch the train,
He settled in the corner seat,
His skin aglow and his eyes relieved.

Where was he going, this young man
With the rucksack and the bedroll,
Travelling light?
Was today the start of his journey
To see the world?
Why the rush young man?
You have your life ahead.

And yet - And yet - I ponder:
Perhaps I would have done more
If I had started running in my youth.

If I had started running in my youth
straight instead of circular
would I have gotten somewhere else
should I have been more particular

If I arrived far from the start
would I still be feeling comfortable
in this body mind heart and soul
should I have found a life more profitable

If I could focus like an arrow's flight
and hit my mark with precision
embedded in a predicted goal
should I have held truer to intuition

If I could change a single thing
a loss regret mistake
would I be recognizable
should I have ever hit the brake
