I burn calories....on a two wheel gym

Postby 1954 » 25 Jul 2010, 00:51

Motorcycling.
Yup, I have to clench my stomach muscles focusing on sitting postures.
Gives a good back stretch and pulls inner thigh tendons, but hamstrings suffer for being bent.
Stretching them out helps when on a long trip.
I try not to consume many calories, since no matter how many miles I travel, I'm really just sitting there.
I always hope the bumpy roads increase my metabolism.

Welcome, 1954!

I can relate. Bikes are the best. My favorite was a 1970 something Honda 305. Loved that puppy. It could really move. Sounded like it was ported and bored. My current is a 1978 Sporty (that's the classic ironhorse from the AMF years).

Nothing like the exhiliration and acuity that comes from being in the front line with the elements.

Have fun.

I know it's pretty quiet in this forum, so check out some of the chat threads. See you later.

Going on a 2500 mile bike ride in ten days. My hamstrings are already tensing up just thinking about it.

There are just times and days you have to ask yourself what have I become, what have I done, and how did I get this way?

2500 divided by 10, is a smooth riding vacation.
Drink lottsa water and hydrate, save the beer for the end of the day.
I get wind blast in my face which turns grimy, so I use toothpaste to clean up the pores...there's a way to save $ at the spa.
I take a glycerin soap bar, multi purpose, body, hair and undies - no need to over pack.
Feel good each time you get off the bike; arms high over head, stretch each side pulling ribs apart. Deep breaths. Don't forget those damn
hamstrings.
10 days eh, Where ya going?
Did I mention I just came back from motorcycle friendly Pennsylvania - where not too many roads are straight?

Ooops I meant I leave in 10 days. We leave near St. Louis on August 4th and return the 10th. Sweetie has to be in a wedding on the 7th in Memphis. We are venturing down to Mississippi before the wedding to meet with his in laws. He is really good about stopping for breaks, so it should be a lot of fun,

if I can get over the guilt of leaving my teenagers for a week. I've never been away from them for more than one night, and they are laying it on thick. My daughter said that we are two old widows, who need to stay on the porch in our rocking chairs, not riding a harley across the nation.

Toothpaste eh? Sounds like it might work. I'll stick to my high end designer facial scrub. 8-)

Pennsylvania is beautiful country. I assume you by passed the tunnels and took the high roads over the mountains.
