why are all site feedback threads locked?

Postby moon willow » 16 Jul 2010, 14:51

I'd like to request we have a place for site complaints/discussions/feedback where the threads are not locked and posts that express
negative feedback are not deleted.

I'm referring first to the discussion that was going on earlier today regarding the link to facebook (an old one, it seems), where several expressed
concern.

I wrote a clear post with my concerns, came back to see replies from both Lady G. and admin (thank you both for clarifying), but, alas,
the post I wrote has been deleted and now the thread is locked.

So, I came to find a feedback/suggestions thread to ask why our negative feedback is deleted? But it seems, even though this is a site feedback forum,
the other threads that would appear to be the right place to post my questions are also all locked.

So, please give us a place we can have honest and open discussions/feedback/suggestions about this site. It is hardly reasonable for you to leave posted only the feedback that is positive.

This kind of thing has gone on since the site first started.

I imagine this thread won't be around for too long either.

Before it disappears, I'd like to say I also was disappointed in this site to find my post nuked and the thread locked.

I lasted longer on poof before getting posts deleted.

Any complaints can be sent to one of the mods or myself admin. If sending PM's to admin I might not always be able to respond straight away but will try to answer pm's in the order they were received.

The reason I removed restless natives negative comments about the facebook page was because it was an old incident that has been rectified. It serves no beneficial purpose to leave a post like this on here as it will confuse and discourage new members.

There is freedom of speech and then there is destructive critisism, a certain individual has been identified as contributing nothing but destructive critism to the site and baiting other users into arguments and thus today I have taken action. It is in my interest and the interest of users to keep this site enjoyable for the majority, I would hope that everybody is in agreement.

Many thanks to all users who have contributed in the suggestions thread, we have taken on board your suggestions and these are the proposed features for POF users. Feel free to discuss and give your feedback here.

This is the thread I posted on pointing out that people who's true image was used as their avatar might be concerned about it being posted on the facebook site. I am unable to quote it here, or reread it to make sure it came across in the respectful tone in which it was intended, because it was deleted. I thought I posted it on the appropriate thread.

I'm suprised they didn't just delete the profile, which would be fair considering it's not for a relationship. I just wanted to try and communicate with them and make myself heard. It's not the end of the world, but it's a shame.

Oops.

Feel free to delete this, I understand that it's your site and you need to do what you determine is best for it. You have a much greater investment in it than I do. Same old kettle of fish.

The reason i deleted the posts was because the avatars and posts on the facebook page have been removed and the facebook page itself is very old and no longer updated, the facebook page was a tool I used to promote the site in its infancy.

We may sometimes remove complaints from this forum aswell as prune threads in the feedback forum but do not let this discourage you from giving feedback, we look at every post and thread in here.

I posted after seeing the links on Facebook today. I posted on a thread you yourself recently started referencing Facebook connections. If I was mistaken you could have posted correcting me. I don't know what your personal forum experiences have been, put checking a thread and finding your posts gone without a PM explaining why certainly seems meant to discourage feedback, and in truth, discourage any feeling of membership.

Again, it's certainly your right to run your site as you see fit. I've only been a member for a short time, and during this period Restless Native has been short and sweet, making astute observations and getting out quick. I can only judge from my own experience here, but labeling someone a troll seems a little redundant, people here seem to have enough experience to usually police themselves and each other pretty well.

Only speaking from my own limited experience here. Thanks for the fun

well, back from a very long day and just wish to say I'm very happy that old thread on facebook has been edited now not to include
quotes or avatars....just in case other people find it like it was found earlier today.

regarding pruning threads, well, what can I say? I do think this is a wonderful site and I love the freedom we have here...
so it's just been a surprise to see pruning in practice....but I still appreciate that admin did indeed write me and that both Lady G
and admin responded so promptly publicly....it is a such a breath of fresh air to feel heard.
