A sachet of Oat So Simple Quaker Oats is quite filling and I don't usually want any mid morning snacks. If you just buy the plain flavoured variety and add a small spoon of honey, there's even less calories..... and it's wheat free of course.

...hic...(just finished that other bottle of wine in that christmas cake thread...had a nap.)

Best way to lose weight? Exercise more. Eat what nature grows and stay away from any refined stuff.

I met a very nice guy today, after talking on line for quite some time. The thing is, he's on the Atkins Diet and it's working for him. He's been on it for years and is in great condition. He's active, walks several miles every day, and works full time all winter. He looks great, has a hard body and can walk at quite a good pace and talk at the same time! He says he got on it to lose weight and now stays on it to maintain his weight. he should be the poster child for Atkins. Has anyone here tried it?

I need to find a weight GAIN diet.

Many would envy you this. There are no universal diets that work for everybody, we all have different endocrine systems, metabolisms and diet requirements.

Are you sure yours is a diet issue and not something else?

The Atkins diet can & will work for everyone, the key is to find the right exercise. Eating certain combinations of foods do numerous things to assist in weight loss, but exercising will keep the weight off. When dieting you learn to eat less & you learn to change your eating habits. If it is a good diet plan you will also learn to eat healthier foods. I say Atkins is one of the better diet plans when combined with a good exercise program. That does not mean you have to become a gym rat either. Most people can maintain their weight loss by simply brisk walking every day. Some need to do a full body work out, some can keep off the extra weight by doing yoga. The key is to find the right work out program for your life style, your body, your metabolism & your desired outcome. You can also do internal body flushes & loose up to ten pounds within a week & keep it off by doing the flushes once a month.

As you get older being a touch over weight is much better than being skinny. Skinny people have more wrinkles, a fuller face always looks less wrinkled. Something to think about when trying to loose weight. Skinny & old are not a good combination. ;)

I was under the impression that the Atkins diet was bad for you long term, and can mess up your electrolytes??

I have lost quite a bit of weight, with out much effort, mostly because I have REALLY toned down my sweets addiction to yummy fattening desserts by eating frozen fruit instead. I used to have a bowl of ice cream or cake or such after dinner. I tried to quit "cold turkey" and just do w/out but was really missing my sweets. I honestly don't know what gave me the idea to start eating frozen fruit instead. But I now eat a big bowl of a mixture of berries, pineapple, peaches, mangos....etc. Frozen grapes and banannas are also really good.
