Willow so what you have is pneumonia, not uncommon this time of year.

how cool is this, we have a fully fledged doctor in our midsts that can diagnose us from the comfort of our own homes.... how lucky are we? 8-)

if i were you willow, i would stick with your doctors diagnosis and lovely man made drugs. s/he probably knows what s/he is talking about and there is a possibility the drugs will actually work...

im not sulking, im just a bit pissed off that grown ups can be so fecking irresponsible sometimes...

I didn't read it that Dot was suggesting she came off the drugs Nx, just that to prevent it happening again she should look at long term management with herbal remedies, something that I do know can work very well. I use a mixture of medication and herbal myself, the herbal keeps the meds down.

Oh I'm not sulking at all btw ... again. :D

Nx why do you find the need to be so friggin nasty? No where did I claim to be a doctor or suggest she not take her meds. I was only trying to be helpful & give suggestions that have worked for me. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother posting. Some of you people are just plain jackasses & will jump at any excuse to be mean!

Oh dear...wrote a book...sorry. And now I see dot has come on while I was writing this and clarified also....anyway, here's my long and wordy response...

Nx....actually, I'm a believer in alternative and natural ways to maintain health because I'm one of those who is quite sensitive to
pharmaceutical drugs and many don't agree with me (of the few I've ever been prescribed)...plus I honestly hate supporting what I feel is a
criminal way those companies lure and entice doctors and patients to use drugs that, while supposedly are trying to help some symptoms, are actually creating more problems with other symptoms, (which means more drugs are needed to counteract those symtoms, and it's just another way, imo, for them to make humungous profits that really seem to totally counteract the whole idea of helping peoples' health). Besides, doesn't everybody know they don't really want people truly healthy, or they'd all be out of business!! Hmmm...sorry - that was more of a rant than a sulk.

Breathe....or try to without coughing. Ugh.

Please know, though, I am not utterly against western medicine because I do believe it helps quite miraculously when it does....but my guts (and profession for many years) have been tuned to wholistic medicine ever since becoming a shiatsu practitioner in 1992...a qualification I use rarely now due to the inconsistency of earning potential here...and it's like a wave for me, rising at times and doing lots of treatments, to other times when I'm letting it have a rest....I'm in one of those resting phases now, as I need to be to get my health back to its usual healthy state again.

And so, thank you for your concern, nx, but I actually was going to write dot and thank her for her suggestions - simply suggestions she found that
worked from experiencing the same sort of respiratory trouble. I really was very grateful to hear what worked for her and it made sense to me.
Also, it helped guide me where there is so much information to research.

By the way, as a footnote, so far the medication the doctor has prescribed is doing absolutely nothing! And I know to not aggravate the problem with
consuming dairy products, which creates more mucous....except I do so love my earl grey tea with milk and it's one way to soothe me on these stressful
work days with my health well below par.....so I'm sort of torn between needing that comfort and needing to breathe..... :?

Sigh. One thing that did sort of scare me, though, was calling it pneumonia....this my doctor did not do, but simply said he heard something in my left lung, so popped me onto a course of antibiotics, knowing I would prefer never to take them unless I really needed to, in his opinion....

Anyway, all I can say is it's good we're on a break for a couple more weeks with african dance rehearsals and performances....guess my body said, 'now is the time to be ill'....and so it is.
However long the night, the dawn will break.

nasty...?? you are having a laugh..?? you will be happy to know that i deleted my first post then... 8-)

im not disputing the possibilities of alternative medicine, i use them (a bit) myself... i am absolutely outraged at the audacity of diagnosing willow with pneumonia

Pneumonia is common occurring in all age groups, and is a leading cause of death among the young, the old, and the chronically ill

and you go and advise a poorly woman she has pneumonia... very sensitive of you...

Some of you people are just plain jackasses & will jump at any excuse to be mean!

tut tut tut.. now you are just being nasty... :D

edit...
ive just read some of willows post...

Sigh. One thing that did sort of scare me, though, was calling it pneumonia....this my doctor did not do,

sorry willow didnt mean to put you in the spotlight there... but i still believe dot was irresponsible..

I'll be wrapping myself in clingfilm, in my mummy bag and submerged in a bath of baked beans if it's of your business....
