Multiple profiles

Postby LadyGodiva » 13 Aug 2010, 08:52

It is within the guide lines that you can possess more than one account on here. Admin, and the two moderators have access to the IP addresses. I have found users that have more than one profile (which is very few) use their alter ego for a 'bit of fun'.
If It is found they use that profile to flame and insult other users, I will send them a warning. If their continue to use that profile for means of attack, the user name will be banned, so they are left only with their original account.
I have only done this once.

It was brought to my attention this morning that a certain poster was concerned with a Moderator using another account to attack other users on a personal level. Obviously this claim was taken seriously. The assumption was found to be untrue.

Both Moderators have two active accounts on here. I am LadyGodiva and Storm
Mod Zombie is Ambien Girl.

For future reference..

If there is concern that someone is using multiple accounts, rest assure we know about it.
We monitor the posting activity of the user and take the appropriate action if needed.

Kind Regards
LG

I believe in transparency. I will only ever possess one profile because I like to stand up and be counted regardless of the fact that sometimes I make a tit of myself.
Creating multiple profiles for negative purposes automatically creates doubts about the posters integrity.

I have to agree with others.
I don't see what benefit to the forum it is, for the GP, to have an 'alternate' account.
It can only lead to people abusing it, and creating a general feeling of paranoia and suspicion surrounding the forums, and the posters.

People already have nightmares about me being any number of posters, and I've never been anything other than 'verityone' on both POF and POFusers.

Do everyone a favour, and make it the site policy that multiple profiles are not allowed in the GP, and the suspicions and allegations of alter ego profiles, goes away.

This isn't POF.
We're supposed to be 'real' here. Otherwise, what's the point?...
Like POF but without silly rules....... Let's see, shall we?

The trouble with trouble is, it usually starts out as fun...

My alter ego is xlr8ingmargo so I have never found a need for a 2nd profile.

('sides I don't think I could keep track of which one of me said what to whom.)

I have only one profile and have had only one since I came on here.
I had Belle Lass on POF and came here with it.
I did for quite awhile have Daisypetals on POF and some people remember me from that.

My profile is the one that was accused of being a sock puppet.

The reason behind it is simple. Someone was getting their ass handed to them in a debate, didn't like that they were getting ganged up on by people that preferred facts, dialectic, logic and reason to repeated sloganeering, fear-mongering and bombast so they decided to take their ball and go home, with a quick tattle to teacher in the faint hope that they would catch someone playing them unfair...

Bad scram to them however, as their suspected sock puppet turns out to be a real person. I have had a profile on Plenty of Suckerfish for years under another handle and came over here to see how the other half lives and enjoy the freedom...especially the ability to colour a debate with video and pics. I will only use this one profile here and no other, as well in the interests of transparency. Those people I choose to communicate with can be privy to my personal data...and the moderator is well aware that I am a real flesh and blood person and not a figment of any other users imagination.

However as a "liberal moonbat" I may be a thorn in the side to some people...don't scratch me or I may just infect you worse LOL.

Obviously this claim was taken seriously.

???

But, it's been some poster's M.O. for ages, ....how many false claims before these "cry wolf" posters are dealt with?
The assumption was found to be untrue.

Being that I am one of those so accused (by that "certain poster" -> and others) of being a (I know he is an actual person who isn't me or anybody else but himself) sock profile; I'm wondering about how this type of libelous false accusation is going to be dealt with when it is a part of a poster's M.O.?
admin wrote:Rule 2) Conduct
.....Do not post any content about another user that could be considered untrue, slanderous libel or defamation of character.

Rule 3)Trolling
No trouble making, people who persistently try to cause arguments by means of trolling will be contacted by a moderator.

If you are consistently breaking the rules a moderator will contact you before any sanctions are issued....

There are a few on here who when they've painted themselves into a corner, claim to "know" ...going beyond an expressed "assumption" and firmly into the realm of outright lying and/or delusion; (as with last night's example) that someone isn't who they say they are (which for all intents and purposes, is spreading lies about two or more people {it was 3 people in total, libeled last night by that "certain poster"}).

Is this kind of trolling going to be allowed to go on and on, or are the (2 or 3) posters who do this repeatedly; going to be warned against spreading lies on this forum and prevented from doing so if they persist
(See: "sanctions" -Admin)?

Whether her baseless accusations are by design, ...or just delusion is immaterial; they are both false and libelous. This isn't the first time this poster (and others) has publicly aired baseless delusions as "fact". It's a pattern, and it goes back a long time, ...and there doesn't seem to have an end to it.

Is there an end to it?

I think it's a bad idea for posters to have multiple accounts.

I did change my name from poof. I didn't like the kind of people I attracted there. I haven't used that account in months. I was seeking a LTR. Unfortunately that meant nothing there.

Some pofu's have asked who I was, and I have told them. Good enough.

There are just times and days you have to ask yourself what have I become, what have I done, and how did I get this way?
