Smoking

Postby ratty » 27 Mar 2010, 12:42

I'm 5 days into quitting smoking now on the champix tablets. These things actually work, so far I've had little crazings, although I keep getting random bouts of euphoria and sickness. I suppose this is what it must feel like on e's

Has anyone here tried to give up?

Nnnnnope. I've stood before the rollup, man and boy, since sneaking a quick drag in Bunkers Alley before school at the age of 11. The bugger of it is that while I know it has to have affected my health, any such detriment has yet to surface. I played football Sats and Suns for over 20 years and despite smoking 20 a day and giving most of the team 20 years in my latter days, I was still the quickest and with the most stamina.

To date, I've not had a pressing reason to give up, so I ain't.

I quit a couple of years ago. I used hypnotherapy, I do that on lots of other people now very successfully. I know people who've had problems with the Champix so be careful Ratty. The thing is it only takes 3 days for the body to go through nicotine withdrawal, after that it's all psychological which is where the hypno comes in handy.

For me (and clients I've had feedback from) I had the hypno session and didn't need a fag all that day, then I woke up the next morning and wanted to roll a fag but a little voice in my head just said "you don't need it" and every time I thought 'oh I could do with a fag' the voice just said "you don't need it". I think I stopped thinking about cigarettes very quickly. I really don't miss waiting for that next fag, my whole life revolved around the next fag, y'know that "Oh I'll just hoover then go 'n have a fag" kinda thing. I'm way fitter than I was as a smoker, I didn't put weight on because the hypno didn't leave that hand to mouth need in me, I can honestly say I wouldn't ever want to go back to smoking ever again, there are so many things about it I don't miss. I still like to roll fags or joints and happily roll one then hand it to it's owner, I never had a problem about people smoking around me even when I'd first quit but I'm very glad to be free.

Do you do the hypnotherapy swan? If the champix doesn't work I may be asking you for a pofusers discount.
