Nova Scotia 'Ranger cookies'[moved to cooking]

Wasn't sure of whether to post this in food or chat. This is a looooooong shot, but here goes:

My mum is from Nova Scotia and the church ladies used to put together booklets of favourite recipes. They had the most awesome "Ranger cookies" (kinda like Girl Guides I imagine) which were made with left over cereal (I think special K) and coconut - oh and peanuts. Oh my, the best cookies ever! Very similar, but better, than Second Cup's "everything cookie".

The booklet has been lost, mum's mind (at least as far as this cookie recipe is concerned) has been lost - and I would really like to find this recipe or another one like it. Best cookie Ev-ah!
Waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Hi It'sMargo
We had a cookie exchange at work. A colleague introduced us to these 'melt in your mouth',
delish cookies, very similar to what you may be looking for.

Lone Ranger Cookies
1 cup margarine
2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt (optional)
1 cup oatmeal
1 pkg pecans
2 cups Rice Krispies
1/2 pkg milk chocolate chips

Mix margarine and sugar. Add vanilla and eggs, mix well. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Mix well.
Place tbsp size blls on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes.
Makes 4 1/2 dozen cookies
Tips: Use small ice cream scoop, to form balls. Toast and cool pecans before adding mixture.

(side note: I prefer butter over margarine, but this time it works!) BonBakin'
...with glowing hearts
