Changing the site layout

Postby LadyGodiva » 15 Apr 2010, 22:00

Please bear with us while we update and add new forums. The forums will still be here to post in. When you click on the index page the forum layout may change. Sorry for any inconvenience. However this process will eventually give you more choice of topics to participate in.

*The new forums will include
Cooking/recipes
Problem page/advice
Parenting
Humour

The debate forum will be spilt into sections.
Religion
Politics
current affairs
science/philosophy
general debate.

The new members thread will be the first forum at the top.

This will give the site a better layout with topics easier to find.

All current forums will remain

If you have any suggestions or forums you would like to be seen added in the future, please leave your comments here

"You have specified an incorrect password. Please check your password and try again. If you continue to have problems please contact the Board Administrator"

Some sort of help forum might prove useful, or not? Depends on whether I'm even able to post this message. I don't know about others, but I have a devil of a time trying to login here.

I did register my user name, selected a password and have had nothing but problems ever since. I was able to login tonight, albeit for a brief moment, before I was again presented with the login page. This has occurred several times I might add. I'm almost always told that I've been successfully logged in, even to the point of seeing my name in the online users at the bottom of the page. But try to post, Poof, back to the login form.

It's apparent that the login form is case sensitive, I get the "You have specified an incorrect password" otherwise. Then, as if to add insult to injury, when I actually click on the Board Administrator link to report this problem. I'm soon greeted with a message from the Mailer-Deamon@aol.com informing me that "The following addresses had permanent fatal errors."

I'll be the first to admit that I have little 'Geek' blood in my veins, but I have never experienced a problem remotely similar to this before. A short term solution has been to request a new password. Which only seems to work until the next time I try to post here.

If I'm able to post this tonight, it will only mean that I've requested yet another new password. If user error is involved, than please tell me the err of my ways. I am really interested in any solution that can be presented.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I agree, a help section would be great!

Like, when I hit "save" on a post, where does it go? I can't find it? I wanted a mucous decompression break! (I have a wicked a$$ cold.) Where does it go?
I am a member of this site, just like you are.

Can't you go into 'system preferences' and just change the size of the print that way?

I would really like it if when you quote someone it would be more obvious by having the quoted section with a darker or differently coloured background to the rest of the post area.

The suggestions/feedback forum is for this

Top right of your page you will see vA^ this will alter the size of the text.

Sounds like a good idea. I will alter this soon

4realRU. Send a PM to Admin he will look into it for you. I have had no other queries of this kind from other users, So I assume it may be a problem with your Firewall.

4Real4U in regards to your login issues, I can attest that your issues are more than likely at the end user point. What I mean is that the board system utilized here uses a cookie and your system is not recognizing the cookie, thus the repeated issues with login. In addition, your requesting a new password and then it erring out until the next time you go to post is a similiar issue, only in that your browser is storing an old password and when you type your username it's auto-completing the password for you.

I realize you may have told it to save/change the new password, but this is what we call a browser caching issue and one that you can correct.

Simply go to your internet tools and order it to delete history, it will bring up a window that gives a list of the items. In your instance, place a checkmark in the box for passwords to delete all of them also. Yes, this means you must know all your passwords or you'll be requesting a lot of new ones, but you need to get the bad ones out of your system.

Once this is done, it should fix your issue. As far as your password goes, when you create a new one just make your life easier and user either all upper or lower case symbols and this will avoid the issue of being case sensitive, as most password issues are due to the shift key being pushed at the wrong time.

I am curious about why posts are not numbered so that the post number can be quoted only when responding ?

May I request that the religion forum's name be changed to the spirituality forum?
I ask this because it means those of us who are not religious, but are spiritual, have a place to post
(and for me, at least, 'spirituality' refers to the whole spiritual topic, which includes religion).
Otherwise, it seems these forums here have been named the same as the ones you-know-where
and they were quite limited and heated with just religion and science/philosophy.
Just asking if it could be considered, please. Thanks!
